Urethra in male & female

Prostatic urethra:-is the widest & most dilatable part of uretha.

Length:-3cm.
Course:-1)begins at the neck of bladder.
2)passes through prostate from base to apex.
3)it becomes continuous with the membranuous part of urethra.
Urethral crest:- is a ridge on post surface.
Prostatic sinus:-groove on each side of the crest .
Prostatic utricle :-is depression on the summit of urethral crest..analog the vagina & uterus in female.
Opening of the ejaculatory ducts:-on the edge of the mouth of utricle.

Female urethra

Length :-3.8cm.
**course :-extends from neck of bladder to ex.urethal meatus about 2.5cm below clitoris.
Site :- ant .to vagina.


Note :-on each side of ex.meatus are the paraurethral glands.that are similar to prostate in male .
