Perichondritis of the pinna :-
Its infection of auricular
cartilage , which may lead to necrosis of cartilage and shrinkage
(deformity), It may fallow :
Haematoma auris , Frost-bite , surgery on CSOM , Otitis extara.
Tretmeant :- 1-systemic antibiotic.
2-drainage with removal of necrotic cartilage .
3-plastic surgery for deformity of the auricle .
Neoplasm’s of the external ear :-
Benign –as
Exostosis:-defined as new bone formation projecting to the
lumen of the bony canal
Clinical types sessile—most frequently seen usually bilateral
and formed by ivory bone
Single pedenculated ----rare and usually
unilateral formed of cancellous bone regard as true osteoma .
Diffused –generalized circular thickening of
tympanic plate (hyperostosis)
Aetiology:-wetting and temp. Changes are probable cause so its
more common in swimmers
c.p –irretation , deafness
tretemeant –aural toilet
surgical removal .

Malignant tumors of external auditory meats:-
Pathology –adenocarcinoma as ceruminoma
Basal cell carcinoma mostly affecting the auricle
Sqamous cell carcinoma usually presented as
bleeding polypous ,ulcer ,serosanguineous discharge
Tretmeant:- irradiatiotion
Radical surgery
Was
(cerumen) is mixture of cerumenal gland secretion ,
pilosebaceous gland secretion and sheets of desquamated
keratin .
Normally its expelled from the canal in flakes , the accumulation
is due to 1-excessive formation 2-retention by stiff hair 3-
exostosis or metal steno sis
C . p deafness , tinnitus , cough ,ear ach and vertigo .
Tretmeant 1-softening by Na-bicarb.5/ . drop or diluted H2O2
.than suction or syringing
2-removal by hook or ring prob.
