Elbow joint

The differential diagnosis of painful elbow include:
1- Periarticular disorders like lateral epicondylitis ( tenis
elbow) , and medial epicondylitis ( golfer’s elbow).
• 2- Joint disorders, like rheumatoid arthritis.
• 3- Olecranon bursitis.
• 4- Referred pain, like cervical spondylosis.

CUBITUS VARUS (or 'gun-stock') deformity:

It is most obvious when the elbows are extended and the arms are elevated. The most common cause is malunion of a supracondylar fracture. Minor degree of deformity can safely be left uncorrected. The sever deformity can be corrected by a wedge Osteotomy of the lower humerus.

CUBITUS VALGUS

The normal elbow ,when fully extended ,is in a position of slight valgus usually in men less than 10 degree, women 15 degree (carrying angle ).
The most common cause is non-union of a fractured lateral condoyle of humerus.
The importance of valgus deformity is the liability for delayed ulnar palsy to develop years after the causal injury.
The deformity itself needs no treatment. but for delayed ulnar palsy the nerve should be transposed to the front of the elbow.
