Male Genital Tract

The normal histologic appearance of prostate glands and surrounding fibromuscular stroma is shown here at high magnification. A small pink concretion (typical of the corpora amylacea seen in benign prostatic glands)

This is chronic prostatitis. Numerous small dark blue lymphocytes are seen in the stroma between the glands.

Nodular prostatic hyperplasia. Nodules appear mainly in the lateral lobes. Such an enlarged prostate can obstruct urinary outflow from the bladder and lead to an obstructive uropathy.

Nodular prostatic hyperplasia can involve both glands and stroma, here there is a large hyperplasic nodule of gland.

Enlarged prostate has glandular hyperplasia. The glands are well-differentiated and have some intervening stroma note the small laminated pink concretions within the glands called (corpora amylacea).

Irregular yellowish nodules, mostly in the posterior portion .This proved to be prostatic adenocarcinoma

At the left is prostatic adenocarcinoma. Note how the glands of the carcinoma are small and crowded at the right are normal prostatic glands showing hyperplasia.

This poorly differentiated prostatic adenocarcinoma demonstrates cells with nucleoli and mitotic figures.

On the left is a normal testis. On the right is a testis that has undergone atrophy which may be due to chronic alcoholism, hypopituitarism, atherosclerosis, chemotherapy or radiation, and severe prolonged illness. A cryptorchid testis will also be atrophic Inflammation may lead to atrophy e.g. Mumps.

The mass lesion seen in the testis is a seminoma . which is composed of soft tan brown tissue. Germ cell neoplasms are the most common types of testicular neoplasm.

The mass lesion seen here in the testis is a seminoma. The tumor is composed of lobulated soft tan to brown tissue. Germ cell neoplasms are the most common types of testicular neoplasm.

Normal testis appears at the left, and seminoma is present at the right . Lobules of neoplastic cells have an intervening stroma with characteristic lymphoid infiltrates. The seminoma cells are large with vesicular nuclei, and pale watery cytoplasm.

A large testicular neoplasm which is white firm mass that histologically is teratoma

Embryonal carcinoma mixed with teratoma in which islands of bluish white cartilage from the teratoma

Mixture of bluish cartilage with red and white tumor tissue. This neoplasm microscopically contained mainly teratoma, but areas of embryonal carcinoma also present
