Record base :is the temporary unit representing the base of a denturث esenting the base of a dentureesenting the base of a denturee to record the relationship of the mandible to the maxilla and to arrangement the teeth in wax for trial insertion in the patient mouth .

Technique of construction of record base

–

Record base constraction(visibie light activated acrylic resin)

1.Apply vasline once again on the Master cast.

2. Apply the base plate material to the master cast and avoid any bubbles.

3.Trim the extra base plate from the master cast .
4.Cure the record base in triad curing unit for 4 mins .
5.Remove the record base from the master cast and cure it for 8 mins once again for
complete curing .
-remove and trim excess acrylic6

Occlusal rim : ( record rim , bite rim , occlusal block)

Is an occluding surfaces built on temporary base plate for the purpose of making maxilla-mandibular relation records and for arranging teeth.

Material and instrument used for making occlusal rim

- Base plate wax
- wax knife &scale
-occlusal plane former (hot plate)

Procedure

Place maxillary and mandibular record base on the cast-
-heat asheet of base plate wax in the Bunsen burner until the wax is soft
-roll the wax in to long tube
-starting at the tuberosity , press the roll of wax against the crest of the ridge
-seal the wax to the record base with wax knif.
-Heat the occluasl plane former in the flame and carefully form the occlusal aspect of the rim
-Form the buccal and labial contours with wax knife.
-The mandibular wax rim is fabricated in a similar manner, the rim should be centered over the crest of ridge and lingual contours must not impinge on the tongue space.
